Barreira do Inferno
17 km away from the center of Natal, Barreira do Inferno
(i.e., “Hell’s Barrier”) occupies
a 5 sq. km. area with rocket launching ramps, in addition
to a sophisticated meteorological station and another
station for the launch of research balloons. It is the
first rocket launching base in South America and the
world’s 4th most important one.
